Tell me about the process of getting a waiver.
After you complete the training, you will need to submit the "Notification of Intent" form by mail, fax or online. This form is reviewed by CSAT/SAMHSA and the DEA. The process is described at Buprenorphine.SAMHSA.gov . Be aware this may take several weeks. If you don't hear back within 45 days, you may begin prescribing, according to the SAMHSA website. However, in some states you will need to add additional information to your DEA number on the script in order for the pharmacy to fill it.
